Look I played a lot of clubs if I say that there is one better than the other I may offend someone. So here it is Ottawa’ s Absolute comedy has the best amount of shows per week. I was booked there for six-day and a total of 8 shows however it was such a busy week We did 3 extra shows. Folks that has never happened to me. Very rarely do we get extra shows if we do it’s because of x-mas but Ottawa had it going on. I loved the room, loved the condo and loved my fellow comics for that week.

All you Ottawa people thank you for a good week.

Week 8 – Vacation

It’s weird on was on my final leg of my tour, I was planning on just doing Montreal this week. However fate had other plans for me. I started dating someone new before this and she said “Hey it’s your big 40th birthday let’s go to Cuba”. I of course said “How much”. Total trip with airfare to all-inclusive resort was only 800 bucks. That my friends is a good deal. First up you don’t have to worry about where to eat. You don’t want to spend all day looking for a restaurant that you like, get in there eat, and get out. Next up open bar, I am not a big drinker but it was my b-day so I had many a pina coladas. We stayed in Varadero’s and the town was nice we found a little pizza place that was good just to mixed it up a little. I plan on going again one day maybe for my 50th.

Week 7 – Laugh Shop Saskatoon

This is a great room, and I was happy to be back to the club I haven’t played in maybe 5 years or so. With me on these shows were first timer Dave Paterson and the local host Mike Simmonds, a perfect blend for the Saskatoon crowd. Even though it was easter weekend we had a great turn out for the shows. Friday night we had a rowdy crowd who were there to have fun. There even was a point where we had to do a photo with a guy, in the middle of my set. People have been supporting this room for years and now a new generation is coming out to do the same. Saturday night had a good crowd, they were more laid back and let the comedy come to them.

One other note the hotel beds were probably the best I’ve slept on for a long time.

week 6 – Laugh shop Sherwood Park

Sherwood Park is located east of Edmonton a small community with a good entertainment district. This club is not very big only seats a little over a hundred. The early shows had great crowds and the people enjoyed themselves, the late shows were light on attendance.

Week 5 – Laugh Shop – Calgary

Folks I have a special place in my heart for this club, you see this was the first road club I ever did. I started off my comedy in Vancouver and I did clubs there but Calgary was the first place I did on the road as we say. This is an amazing club, first off its big, seats maybe 300, and on Friday and Saturday night it was sold out. Kevin foxx was the headliner and proved to be a force to be reckoned with, when it’s delivering his material or dealing with a rowdy crowd Kevin does not disappoint. This club is what we call an “A” club, it has big names come in and headline a few times a month and then throws a local on once in awhile to still support the lesser known comics. The week before me Norm Macdonald was there and I heard it went perfect.

Week 4 1/2 – Broken City Mondays

Well folks for the last many years James Moore has be doing shows on Monday night in Calgary.

Last monday was one of the best shows I’ve seen down there. He always has a great host and I was closing it up. There was a good mix of amateurs and pros doing there thing to make the crowd laugh. My favorite thing about these shows is that they start out rough, because there are people in the place who are not there for comedy but by the end of the show all those people are gone and all that is left are there to laugh. The place was standing room only so if you’re going down there get there early.

Week 4 – Laugh Factory

This was the first time I was at this club and we had good numbers. It’s nice to work with the local talent and I got to meet interesting new people. This club plays a little different than others. It’s a clean club which means no F-words or heavy adult situations. I like this way of doing comedy I wish we had more clubs like this. One odd thing is the crowd was not a bunch of big drinkers, usually I say to the crowd “We drinking tonight?” they clap and it leads into a few jokes. At this club not so much so next time I’m changing things around a little.

Located in Southern Edmonton this club brings up the neighboring towns as well, these are small town folks who need to laugh more than anyone. All in all a good week, a shall be back.
